It was my first visit and it was lovely. I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

I recently had my hair dyed by Aimee and the results were incredible. I had color in my hair that was from several months ago that I was no longer happy with. I had a great experience with Gina. This is my first time getting a short hair cut and she answered every question and made me feel very comfortable and took me through it step by step to the length that I will feel more comfortable in. My experience with Gina was amazing but the lady at the front desk with the long straightened hair was very rude to the stylist in which made me feel uncomfortable. Besides that I had an overall good experience and I love my haircut

Gina was so amazing! My hair was dead and flat when I came in. She listened to what I wanted out of the haircut and recommended some solutions and did such an amazing job. I can’t recommend her and this salon enough after encountering so many bad salons in Brooklyn. So happy to have FINALLY found a salon I plan on coming back to for future haircuts.

Paul and the whole team at Self were amazing. They have great safety protocol in place and still created a calming salon experience. The haircut from Paul was exactly what I was looking for! As a curly hair person switching your stylist can be scary, but I'll definitely be back!!

Ruben is the man! I hadn’t gotten a haircut in over two years, so I was a little nervous about making a big change. He took the time to look through my reference photos, asked the right questions, and made sure he understood exactly what I was going for. He absolutely nailed it. He’s great with curly textured hair and beards, and you can tell he really pays attention to the details. I walked out feeling fresh, confident, and honestly better than I expected. Already looking forward to the next cut. If you’re on the fence, book with Ruben. You won’t regret it.
