What is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from a donor area (usually the back or sides of the scalp) to areas of thinning or baldness. The two main techniques are FUT (follicular unit transplantation) and FUE (follicular unit extraction), with FUE being the more commonly used modern method.

How much does a hair transplant cost?

How does the hair transplant procedure work?

You’ll be awake during the procedure, but you’ll probably be sedated and given a local anaesthetic to ensure you don’t feel any pain. You’ll then either have a follicular unit transplant (FUT) or a follicular unit extraction (FUE).

During FUT, your doctor will remove a thin strip of skin with hair on it from the back of your head, cut it into hair grafts (pieces of skin containing 1-4 hairs), and insert it into incisions where you want your hair to grow.
