Fresha Feature Launch: Introducing Bookable Resources

Not every appointment needs a team member. Sometimes, the most important part of the booking is the space itself. 

Fresha has always helped businesses manage the resources behind their services, whether that be treatment rooms or specialist equipment, by assigning them to appointments and preventing those double bookings. Now, we’re officially taking it a step further. 

With this, we’re super excited to introduce a brand new feature on the platform: Bookable Resources. This powerful new feature gives businesses even more control over how their spaces, equipment, and facilities are booked on Fresha. 
 

Many businesses rely on shared resources to deliver services, whether that’s float tanks in a spa, sunbeds in a tanning studio, or private therapy rooms in a wellness centre. With Bookable Resources, you can now define exactly when those resources are available and even allow clients to book certain experiences without assigning a team member. This gives you greater flexibility in how you manage bookings, thus helping you reduce scheduling conflicts and ensuring your facilities are always used efficiently. 

This added flexibility helps reduce scheduling conflicts, improve utilisation, and unlock new ways to offer your services, especially for the self-service experiences.

What can you do with Bookable Resources? 

Bookable Resources helps you organise the spaces and equipment behind your services, building on the way Fresha already assigns and manages resources within appointments, and giving you the flexibility over how they’re booked.

Set availability for every resource 

With Bookable Resources, you can define weekly availability for each individual resource, ensuring it can only be booked when it’s actually ready for use. 

This is especially important for resource-only bookings. When no team member is assigned, Fresha uses the resource’s schedule to determine which time slots are available so clients only see times when that space or equipment is available to use. 

For example, a sauna may only open later in the morning, or a steam room might require some downtime between maintenance cycles. By setting dedicated schedules for your resources, you can keep bookings aligned with how your business operates and avoid situations where equipment and facilities are booked when they shouldn’t be.

This builds on Fresha’s existing scheduling logic, where resources are automatically reserved during appointments and made unavailable to prevent double bookings, now with even more control at the resource level. Essentially, this feature gives you much clearer control over how your resources are used throughout the day. 

Enable resource-only bookings

Some services don’t require a team member at all. With Bookable Resources, certain resources can now be configured as standalone bookable items, allowing clients to reserve them directly without assigning a staff member.

This is most ideal for those self-service experiences, such as a float tank session, a sunbed appointment, or access to a sauna. Clients simply choose a time that works for them and book the resource they need. For businesses offering these types of services, it creates a faster, more seamless booking journey. 

You can also define the capacity for each of your resources, allowing multiple appointments to take place at the same time where appropriate: perhaps enabling several clients to book a sauna or shared facility simultaneously. 

For more advanced setups, services can require multiple resources within a single appointment, ensuring everything needed (rooms, equipment, etc.) is reserved together and avoiding any scheduling conflicts behind the scenes. 

Easily group and organise resources

Organising your resources is just as important as managing their availability. 

With resource types, you can group similar resources, like treatment rooms or pieces of equipment, making them easier to manage, assign to services, and view in your calendar. 

This allows for more flexible scheduling. For example, instead of assigning a specific room, you can allow Fresha to automatically allocate any available resource within a group, helping you streamline operations and maximise availability even further.
