How do manual payments using a card terminal work
Manual charge allows you to enter a total amount directly on your card terminal without raising a sale in your workspace. Once manual charge is enabled, all payments are processed directly on the card terminal rather than through the checkout screen.
All manual charge transactions, including tips, appear as Card payments in your wallet and sales reports. They’re listed as walk-in appointments with a Misc service, without any specific service attached.
Enable manual charge on a card terminal
- From the main menu on the left of your screen, go to Settings.
- Click on the Payments category to manage your card terminals.
- In the left menu, select Card terminals to view your devices.
- Next to your card terminal, select Actions and then Manual charge.
- In the pop-up, review the payment processing fees, then click on the Enable button to activate manual charge.
Once enabled, you’ll be able to enter the total amount directly on your card terminal from the following day after 6:00 AM, once the card terminal has automatically updated. To disable manual charge, follow the same steps. Next to your card terminal, select Actions, then Disable manual charge.
Collect payments using a manual charge on a card terminal
- On your card terminal home screen, select the Payment icon on the bottom left.
- Enter the amount you want to charge your client, then tap the Confirm button (tick icon).
- Your client can choose to add a tip or skip this step by selecting No tip.
- On the card terminal, your client can choose to add a tip or skip this step by selecting No tip.
- Ask the client to insert, tap, or use their digital wallet on the card terminal to complete the payment.
Once the payment is processed, the checkout will automatically complete on your screen. If your card terminal supports receipt printing, it will print the receipt automatically. The transaction details will be a walk-in with a Misc service.

To issue a refund for a manual charge taken on a card terminal, go to Sales and select Payments. Open the transaction, click the three dots next to Rebook, and select Refund sale to complete the process.
