Fresha x Black Eats LDN: Celebrating Black culture, food, and self-expression

This weekend, October 11-12Black Eats LDN returns to Hackney Bridge for another food festival celebrating Black culture, food, and creativity. Since its launch in 2020, the platform has become the UK’s leading movement, championing Black-owned restaurants, cafés, and caterers, spotlighting the talent, passion, and community behind the country’s most dynamic dining scene.

In just a few years, Black Eats LDN has supported more than 500 Black-owned businesses, generated over £8 million in sales, and welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to its events nationwide. Beyond the food and festivities, the festival is all about visibility, empowerment, and self-expression.

This year, Fresha is proud to partner with Black Eats LDN, joining forces with award-winning barber and Fresha brand ambassador Mark Maciver and his iconic barbershop SliderCuts to bring complimentary haircuts to festival goers throughout the weekend. Together, we’re celebrating the creativity and cultural influence that connects food and beauty across the Black community.

Founded by Jackson McLarty, Black Eats LDN was born out of a response to the lack of representation and recognition for Black-owned restaurants in the UK. Today, it’s evolved into a nationwide platform that not only celebrates food but also addresses the barriers that Black entrepreneurs face, from limited access to investment to the pressures of gentrification.

“Black food has always evolved through adaptation. That’s where the energy is,” says McLarty. “This festival is about celebrating culture, creativity, and the future of Black-owned businesses in the UK.”

For Fresha, the partnership reflects a shared belief that self-expression is a form of empowerment, and that supporting independent professionals, from nail technicians to professional barbers, strengthens the cultural fabric of every community.

“Fresha’s involvement is about visibility and empowerment,” adds McLarty. “Partnering with Mark and SliderCuts, and seeing those worlds of culture, business, and creativity intersect, is what makes this collaboration so special.”
