The Sales by Time Period report helps you track sales trends over specific time periods, allowing you to analyze and identify patterns in your sales data.
Sales by time period report explained
The Sales by Time Period report gives you a detailed view of your sales within a selected date range. It helps you identify sales trends and make informed business decisions.
You can use this report to:
- Optimize your team's shift patterns - By analyzing sales by time and day, you can identify peak hours and adjust staff schedules to meet demand without overstaffing during slower times.
- Guide future promotional strategies - The report helps assess the success of promotions run at specific times, days, or months, helping plan future promotions.
- Identify seasonal trends - Monthly sales data can reveal seasonal patterns, which can help with staffing and marketing decisions.
Using the Sales by time period report
The data in this report can be grouped by periods for easy viewing.
Grouping options
Use the 'Group by' drop-down menu to select a period when the sale was processed to identify trends:
- Hour of the day
- Day of the week
- Month of the year
- Quarter of the year
- Year
Date range
Select a date range using the calendar drop-down menu to view data for a specific time frame. The report includes the start and end dates of your selected range.
Filter options
Refine your data using the filter drop-down menu to narrow results by:
- Channel - The channel in which the appointment related to the sale was booked.
- Type - The type of item being sold (services, products, memberships, cancellations, no shows and shipping fees).
- Client gender - The gender specified in the client's profile.
- Client retention - The type of client, new, returning or walk-in.
- Location - The business location where the sale was raised.
- Team member - The team member responsible for providing the service during the appointment or the team member who processed a sale where there is no linked appointment.
Understanding the Sales by time period data fields
Depending on your selected filters and groupings, you’ll see the following data fields:
- Sales quantity - Total number of distinct sales (invoices) processed within the date range.
- Items sold - Total number of items (which can be services, products and memberships) sold.
- Gross sales - Total gross sale value. Taxes are included only if taxes are set up.
- Discounts - Total discount value applied within the selected date range.
- Refunds - Total refunds value processed within the selected date range.
- Net sales - Total net sales value processed within the selected date range.
- Taxes - Total taxes value applied for sales raised within the selected date range.
- Total sales - Total sales value processed within the selected date range.
NOTE:
- Voided sales and gift card sales are excluded from the Sales by Time Period report.
- A new client is defined as anyone making their first purchase within the selected date range.
