Wat is een sportmassage?

Een sportmassage is ontworpen om de bloedcirculatie te stimuleren, de elasticiteit van het weefsel te vergroten en de spierspanning te verminderen. Diepe weefselmassage is meestal een volledige lichaamsmassage; een sportmassage richt zich op een specifiek deel van het lichaam dat genezing of verlichting nodig heeft.

Hoe pijnlijk is een sportmassage?

Het hangt af van je pijngrens en de omvang van je blessure en spierspanning. Je zult waarschijnlijk ongemak voelen tijdens en na je massage, maar niet in de mate dat je begint te spannen om de pijn te verduren. Je massagetherapeut moet zijn techniek aanpassen om binnen je pijndrempel te werken.

Wat zijn de verschillende soorten sportmassages?

Er zijn vier hoofdtypen sportmassage: Pre-event – gegeven 15-45 minuten voor een activiteit, richt een pre-event sportmassage zich op de delen van je lichaam die het meest waarschijnlijk tijdens de activiteit worden uitgeoefend. Post-evenement – gegeven tot twee uur na een activiteit om het te helpen bij de myofasciale afgifte. Herstellend – heeft tot doel blessures te voorkomen en intensieve training mogelijk te maken in de aanloop naar een sportevenement waarvoor je traint. Revalidatie – heeft tot doel weefselontsteking na een blessure te verminderen.
