Wat is beenwaxen en hoe doe je dat?

Beenwaxen is een ontharingsmethode voor de benen. Ontharing wordt bereikt door warme of koude was op je benen te plaatsen en deze vervolgens snel in de tegenovergestelde richting van je haargroei af te strippen om haren van de wortel te verwijderen. Zachte was wordt normaal gesproken gebruikt bij het waxen van de benen en er wordt een dunne laag verwarmde was op je huid aangebracht met een houten spatel of roller. Hoe lang duurt het effect van beenwaxen?

Wat zijn de verschillende soorten beenwax?

Er zijn twee soorten beenwax: volledig been – dat haar van de bovenkant van je dijen tot de basis van je enkels verwijdert – en half been – dat haar van onder je enkel tot net boven je knieën verwijdert, of van je dijen tot je knieën.

Is beenwaxen veilig voor alle huidtypes?

Ja, maar niet als je benen verbrand zijn door de zon, en ook niet als er plekken zijn met een beschadigde of geïrriteerde huid. Als je bruiningscabines gebruikt, moet je minstens 7 dagen na het bruinen wachten voordat je je benen laat waxen.

Hoe bereid je je voor op een beenwaxafspraak?

Scheer je niet voor je afspraak; om ervoor te zorgen dat je beenwax effectief is en je zijdezachte benen hebt, moet je beenhaar minstens een kwart centimeter lang zijn, zodat de wax kan vastgrijpen. Je huid moet ook zo vetvrij mogelijk zijn, dus zorg ervoor dat je voor je afspraak doucht, scrubt en je benen niet hydrateert. Zorg er ten slotte voor dat de huid op je benen niet verbrand of gebroken is en vertel je schoonheidstechnicus over eventuele moedervlekken op je benen die mogelijk tegen de was moeten worden beschermd.

Wat kun je verwachten tijdens een beenwaxafspraak?

Je moet je benen blootstellen, dus je moet je kleding verwijderen of aanpassen zodat je waxtherapeut toegang heeft tot de delen van je benen die je wilt waxen zonder het risico te lopen wax op je kleding te krijgen. Als je klaar bent, wordt opgewarmde zachte was dun op je benen verspreid en worden er waxstrips stevig bovenop geplaatst. De strips worden snel in de tegenovergestelde richting van je haargroei getrokken, waardoor je haar tijdens het proces uit de wortel wordt gehaald. Je waxen moet tussen de 30-45 minuten duren, afhankelijk van of je een halve of volledige beenwax hebt.
