About your website domains
A domain is the web address visitors use to find your website, such as trendystudio.com. Every Smart Website includes a customizable Fresha domain, which stays active so your website always has a web address. You can also buy a new custom domain through Fresha or connect a domain you already own.
If you have multiple domains, one will be your chosen primary domain. This is the web address visitors see when viewing your website. Your other active domains remain connected, so anyone using them is automatically redirected to your primary domain.
Add a domain
-
From the main menu on the left of your screen, go to Online presence.
-
Select Smart Website from the left menu panel.
-
In the top right corner, click on Options and select Settings from the dropdown menu.
-
Under Smart Website, select Domains.
-
In the top right corner, click on Add.
-
Choose the custom domain you’d like to add and follow the steps through to connect your domain:
- Get a custom domain: Buy a new web address that’s unique to your business.
- Use your existing domain: Connect a web address that you already own to continue using it.
-
Follow the steps to purchase your custom domain or connect your existing domain.
Your new domain has been added and may take up to 48 hours to connect. In the meantime, your website remains available through your current primary domain.
Choose your primary domain
- Go to your Domain settings.
- Next to the domain you want to make your primary web address, click Actions (three dots) and select Set as primary domain.
- In the pop-up, click Confirm.
Your primary domain has been updated. This is now the web address visitors see when viewing your website. Anyone using one of your other active domains is automatically redirected to your primary domain.
FAQs
If your included Fresha domain is currently your primary domain, your new custom or existing domain automatically becomes your primary domain once connected.
If you already have a custom or existing domain set as your primary domain, any additional domains you add are active once connected but do not automatically become your primary domain. To make a different domain your primary domain, follow the steps above.
Your included Fresha domain always stays connected to your Smart Website as a fallback. If a custom or existing domain becomes your primary domain, this is the web address visitors see when viewing your website. Your Fresha domain remains active in the background but won’t be the web address visitors see.
