Acrylic nails are nail extensions created by combining a liquid monomer and powder polymer to form a hard protective layer over natural nails. They can be sculpted into various lengths and shapes, then painted or decorated to your preference.

Why do acrylic nails hurt?

Acrylic nails may contract and tighten after application and this can cause discomfort; however it shouldn’t last longer than 24hrs. If you’re experiencing pain after that, it could be a sign of damage or infection, particularly if your nails were filed down too low or your cuticles were pushed back too far pre-application. Why do nails grow faster with acrylic?

They don’t. Human nails grow at around 3mm (1/8”) every month whether you wear artificial nails or not. Acrylic nails don’t make your natural nails grow faster, but because of their length, they can give the impression that your own nails have grown more quickly.

How often should you get your acrylic nails done?

Your natural nails will continue to grow beneath your acrylics. This means you will see an area of regrowth within 2-3 weeks that you’ll probably want filled.

A full set of acrylic nails can be worn for 6-8, and should then be removed.
