One of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten! Jill truly cares about what she does and doesn’t rush the process. I have curly hair but living in NY, the water makes it so stale and flat. She cut it in such a way that it brought my hair back to life and gave me advice on how to make the most of my curls. I tried her technique immediately the next day and my hair has never been curlier! Thank you so much Jill and I will definitely be back!

I've been seeing Harix for 3 years now and he does an amazing job every time. I love this salon because they pay close attention to your hair texture and are thoughtful about explaining the cut, color, and care process. I recommend them to all my curly-haired friends!

Harix was amazing with my curly cut. He took the extra time to talk through styles - I only had a few directions and no particular style request. I'm so happy with the way he understood and cut my hair, he's very experienced and loves cutting curly hair. He also took weight off my curls to give them some bounce. Would 100% recommend for all curly cuts.

OMG, I got my haircut from Andrea and she is AMAZING. I have curly hair and havent gotten it cut since the pandemic started, PLUS I also had a baby, so it was looooong. She dry cut it and worked through my curls and did such a great job. I feel like a new person - with bouncy, well-styled, no-longer-straggly curls. THANK YOU!

Tamia is a true professional. She was on time and very thorough. As a first time curly cut client, she asked me to tell her about my hair and listened to my hair concerns, goals and complaints. She acted on the information I provided and by her assessments. She chose products and haircut accordingly. As a result I am happy with my cut and the services provided. Gaby gave me a great wash and was very sweet and accommodating. Great place. Easy access to MTA. I am looking forward to my next trim. Very happy indeed .

This was my first haircut with Filo. She was kind, listened to what I wanted, and was patient throughout my curly hair cut. I was in love with the cut even before it was styled with product! She blew out my hair with a beautiful bounce which I also loved! I will be scheduling an appointment with Filo again for next week so that she can cut my daughter’s hair. So happy she’s joined the Self Salon team 💕

Harix was amazing! As a guy with curly hair I’m always a bit apprehensive to try a new cut, but Harix listened to what I liked/didn’t like about my current haircut and came up with a cut that works really well for me. I would highly recommend to anyone, especially if you have curly hair!

Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

I went into my appointment feeling blah and was *feeling myself* by the time I left. I can’t give Harix enough praise! He is SO talented and I could not be happier with my cut and color. He is equal parts artist and stylist, which is especially crucial when it comes to curly hair. He also has a wonderful vibe and I immediately felt at ease. This is by far the best hair service I’ve ever received. Harix is truly a curly hair expert and I’m so grateful to have found him! Roots Radicals is also a lovely salon. Everyone there was kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I recommend it to everyone!

Eugene is excellent! I felt really heard, the haircut is exactly what I had in mind! My hair tends to look like a mushroom because of how thick it is, he resolved the issue and gave it texture and lightness! He is also just great company, making good conversation and creating a comfortable space for the customer to relax and enjoy the experience! Highly recommend!
