Fantastic to get back here for some urgent post-lockdown hairdressing needs. Shane was fantastic - he had been in touch during lockdown to sort out availability in advance, and emailed to clarify all I needed to know about attending the salon safely. In 30 mins my thick, unruly mess of hair was expertly trimmed, while I enjoyed the therapeutic comfort of the salon; I couldn't be happier. The price is higher than my previous hairdresser in Durham, however value is reflected in every snip, meanwhile knowing sustainability and ethics are championed through every penny happily paid. Shane is friendly and gives you confidence in his abilities - so important when visiting a new hairdresser. This was my first professional cut since the COVID Pandemic started but Shame quickly assessed then discussed before carrying out an excellent cut with a new twist on my short style. Recommend. Vegan/vegetarian cafe above enables you to make a real treat of the experience. Will definitely return.

Shane fantastic as always.. always a relaxing experience to visit the salon, great and unique products. A long overdue cut following restrictions... Shane has taken care to ensure his salon is covid-safe by design, and clearly makes every effort to attend to all details required to maintain a safe all the while pleasant experience with Covid-19 in mind. :)

Professional haircut - Shane is very skilled and experienced and always entertaining. I love that the salon and cafe have an ethical and relaxed ethos.

I travel over an hour to come to this salon twice a year, so that’s how good it is. I don’t just get great hair, I get sugggestions of new musicians and poets to listen to and tips on nice places to go. I love that the hair products are vegan. I came for a colour and we decided I don’t need to colour my hair at all. Very happy

Best salon in the Lakes. I've now been going to The Salon at The Forge for 3 years now and my hair is in the best condition it has ever been in. It NEVER used to grow and I now have happy and healthy hair whilst still being able to colour it. Thank you!

The best salon in the world, and yes I have been to all of them.

I was really happy to find Shane online as my hair was pretty damaged from over bleaching and bad cuts from other hairdressers. I've always had very long hair but he talked me through everything and we decided to cut a good few inches off ending up with a shoulder length bob and I loved it. I'm now looking forward to re-growing and highlighting my hair, safely with Shane, for the Summer. He is a bit more expensive but an excellent hairdresser is worth every penny.
