In the beauty and wellness industry, inclusivity isn't just a trend – it’s about creating an environment where clients can feel comfortable and celebrate their individuality, no matter their identity. This Pride Month, we’re spotlighting three businesses on Fresha who are championing inclusivity and creating safe, LGBTQ+ friendly spaces, while making their mark on the industry with their success.
From the beginning, founder of BLACC+BLOND Anil Salhan built his gender-neutral salon with the goal of defying norms, promoting equality in the hair industry, and creating an inclusive culture. They offer every client equal time, attention, and pricing regardless of their gender. Precise, methodical hair treatments are their specialty, and the team goes out of their way to build relationships and empower clients to express themselves.
In Anil’s own words, they’re a ‘people and society-focused brand’. They combine their focus on inclusivity with a passion for salon sustainability, through their eco-conscious products and tree-planting projects. Despite launching just before the pandemic, BLACC+BLOND’s commitment to their values has helped them grow each year and win some of the industry’s most prestigious awards.
Tru Nail Art is one of Brighton’s boldest, most creative nail salons. Their founder Sasha Trutneva advocates for a more inclusive definition of masculinity, and encourages everyone to celebrate themselves with nail art, regardless of gender identity. From the moment clients walk through the door, Sasha and her team offer a warm, personal greeting and invite clients to relax with a refreshment while they wait for their appointments.
The team at Tru Nail Art don’t just make nails look good – they focus on uplifting their clients’ nail health with natural, cruelty-free products. Having been fully booked out within their first month of opening and maintaining impressive growth ever since, Tru Nail Art is an excellent example of how championing inclusivity can drive business success.
They make it clear that members of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome – you can check out their Pride-themed nail art on their Instagram page.
Based in Glasgow, @66 is a queer-owned hair and lifestyle salon, led by expert stylist and colourist Graeme Snell. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community himself, it’s important to Graeme that his salon is a safe, inclusive space where any and everyone is welcome to be themselves. Graeme has built a diverse team of stylists that reflects his wide base of clients who come from all walks of life.
On top of helping clients express themselves with vibrant, show stopping hairstyles and classic, timeless looks, the team at @66 goes out of their way to support other local businesses and build a thriving local community. Their dedication isn’t just inspiring – it pays off with plenty of bookings from both regulars and new clients.
With their growth and success, these Fresha partners show that promoting inclusivity isn’t just about being progressive – it’s also a great strategic decision for your business. Use this Pride Month as an opportunity to make your business even more inclusive, and support your team and clients within the LGBTQ+ community.
