I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Shalayna is amazing! I went to her for the first time a little over four months ago because I wanted a silk press. Instead of just doing the service, she was honest and told me my hair wasn’t in the right condition for it at that time. That immediately impressed me because I want a stylist who genuinely cares about the health of my hair and will recommend what’s best, rather than simply doing what I ask to make a sale. The salon was comfortable and they offered me a beverage, so I drank mint tea while deep conditioning. My stylist Patrice was gentle when detangling and kept me informed on what she was doing throughout the process, including tips for the takedown of my style. Overall, this was a 10/10 salon experience.

Liyah was great. I came in because I thought my hair was in really bad condition. She assured me it was not and then provided me with more than few tips to get my hair back on track. This was my first visit to the salon and I appreciate the professionalism of the staff and general ambience. One thing to note however is that I was initially booked with another stylist and was switched to Liyah without being notified. I am assuming it was because I was a new client but a courtesy text or call would have been appreciated. Nonetheless not a major complaint, Liyah was amazing!

My visit to Self was excellent from start to finish. They were careful to make sure it was a safe experience for everyone involved: everyone wore masks, gloves, wiped down all surfaces constantly, and had hand sanitizer available. And aside from all the COVID-related precautions, I absolutely love my haircut and have gotten so many compliments. Highly recommend Self's line of products, they have the BEST curl gel I've ever used, hands down. Can't recommend this salon enough!

Milli/10 experience at Roots!! I had an appointment with Sabrina for loc maintenance and repair. She was so nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. She made me feel very comfortable asking questions and was so welcoming. Everyone at Roots was warm and kind, and the atmosphere is great. I'll be back for sure.

I was able to book a half balayage on Saturday for Sunday, I got in the chair immediately and the service was awesome! The stylist I saw, Mino, was wonderful and did an amazing job. The salon was clean and aerated, everyone was wearing masks. I am super happy with the result and my experience there! Thank you!

It was an incredible experience. I went to a different salon. They completely turned my hair, orange, yellow and dark brown Doreen saved my life. I wasn’t able to go to work. Very happy. Excellent experience highly recommend it. She repaired my fried hair into beautiful sleek with highlights. Absolutely fabulous thank you Doreen.

Last minute before a trip, I realized how bad of a hair color touchup I was in need of and my usual place was unavailable, so I decided to swing by the studio to see if there was any chance there for highlights. Dori was super nice and was willing to accommodate me last minute, even staying late since that was the only time I was available too, and she did an absolutely fantastic job!
