11/10 experience! This salon was clean and the staff was nice and efficient. I’ve been to many salons and this was the most thorough hair wash and scalp massage I’ve ever had. And Curly was just amazing! I had the best experience with him. He listened and took his time to get my cut as precise and perfect as possible. He also gave me styling tips and got my pin straight hair to look voluminous like I wanted. Glad I found my new go to spot, and for my cut to be under $100 with tip is unheard of in New York.

Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

It was my first visit and it was lovely. I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Shalayna is amazing! I went to her for the first time a little over four months ago because I wanted a silk press. Instead of just doing the service, she was honest and told me my hair wasn’t in the right condition for it at that time. That immediately impressed me because I want a stylist who genuinely cares about the health of my hair and will recommend what’s best, rather than simply doing what I ask to make a sale. Such a lovely experience. The salon is really nice and Iryna was even nicer and very professional. I did a conditioning treatment and a blow dry and my hair looks amazing. Honestly one of the best blow dries I had in a long time!

Curly always does a great job, and pay attention to details. TOTO Hair staff are always polite and never rude. Love the assistant Jessica that did my daughter's deep conditioning. Have been going there for decades, and bringing my growing up kids there.

My visit to Self was excellent from start to finish. They were careful to make sure it was a safe experience for everyone involved: everyone wore masks, gloves, wiped down all surfaces constantly, and had hand sanitizer available. And aside from all the COVID-related precautions, I absolutely love my haircut and have gotten so many compliments. Highly recommend Self's line of products, they have the BEST curl gel I've ever used, hands down. Can't recommend this salon enough!

Amazing service. The hair wash lady gave a wonderful massage, and the hair stylist was diligent and talented. Only feedback would be for the salon to please clean the hair off the chair and floor after every patron.

It was my first time at Hayato. Although it looked a bit dated, the service was exactly what I was looking for. Great shampoo experience and Mina my hairdresser was a super Japanese stylist. She listened to what you wanted and then offered her opinion. Highly recommend for a true New York Japanese hair salon. Thank you!

Milli/10 experience at Roots!! I had an appointment with Sabrina for loc maintenance and repair. She was so nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. Last minute before a trip, I realized how bad of a hair color touchup I was in need of and my usual place was unavailable, so I decided to swing by the studio to see if there was any chance there for highlights. Dori was super nice and was willing to accommodate me last minute, even staying late since that was the only time I was available too, and she did an absolutely fantastic job!
