Absoluut. Als je niet naar een salon kunt, of gewoon liever binnen blijft, dan kun je doe-het-zelf-pedicurekits kopen om vanuit het comfort van je eigen huis te gebruiken.

Wat is typisch inbegrepen in een pedicure?

Traditioneel begint een pedicure met het baden van je voeten in warm water om de huid te verzachten. Een exfoliërende voetmassage wordt vervolgens gebruikt om dode huid te verwijderen, voordat de teennagels worden getrimd en gevormd. Sommige pedicure zullen je voeten en onderbenen masseren om ontspanning te bevorderen voordat je een vochtinbrengende crème, olie of wrap aanbrengt.

De behandeling eindigt met het aanbrengen van nagellak – in uw kleurkeuze – op uw teennagels. Dermatologen raden het snijden van nagelriemen af, omdat dit tot infecties kan leiden, dus vraag je pedicure om je nagelriemen schoon te maken, maar niet te snijden.

Andere pedicures volgen een vergelijkbaar formaat met de volgende aanpassingen: Franse pedicures bevatten de Franse manicure-esthetiek (een naaktroze nagel met een strook wit langs de punt van de nagel); vispedicures zien de puimsteen verwisseld voor kleine garra rufa-visjes die aan je voeten knabbelen om dode huidcellen en eelt te verwijderen; stenen pedicures gebruiken hete stenen om de voeten te ontspannen en te verjongen; gelpedicures culmineren in het aanbrengen van gellak op je teennagels in plaats van gewone nagellak; een sportpedicure gebruikt verkoelende aromatische oliën zoals pepermunt of eucalyptus om vermoeide spieren te kalmeren; en een spa-massage verhoogt de luxe door de pedicure uit te voeren in een privé, spa-achtige omgeving en heerlijke toevoegingen zoals aromatherapie-oliën en een warme handdoekenfolie.
