It was my first visit and it was lovely. I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Been getting my hair cut by Ilker for a while now and he never disappoints. Great attention to detail, excellent fades, and always takes the time to make sure everything is perfect. One of the best barbers I’ve had in New York. Highly recommend.

Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

11/10 experience! This salon was clean and the staff was nice and efficient. I’ve been to many salons and this was the most thorough hair wash and scalp massage I’ve ever had. And Curly was just amazing! I had the best experience with him. He listened and took his time to get my cut as precise and perfect as possible. He also gave me styling tips and got my pin straight hair to look voluminous like I wanted. Glad I found my new go to spot, and for my cut to be under $100 with tip is unheard of in New York.

I've NEVER written a review in my life. No cap. But Desiree's work at The Way inspired my first. My daughter's hair was always this dry, clumpy mop that took stylists 10+ hours to braid—most visits took two days. Our first visit to The Way? A haircut and 2½ hours later, we finally got to celebrate her natural curly hair. Curls just popping and locking. Beautiful. For parents with mixed kids struggling with their children's hair—this place should be shortlisted. Highly recommended and will definitely return. Thanks, Desiree and The Way!

Ainur is incredibly talented and pays amazing attention to detail with every braid she creates. I’ve gone to her multiple times for special events like HYROX competitions and the Pride Parade, where I wanted colorful extensions braided into my natural hair. The braids always look beautiful, are comfortable, and hold up for days—even through intense athletic events. I highly recommend Ainur to anyone looking for high-quality, creative braids that last!

Leonor did an incredible job on my dip powder nails with tips! The shape was flawless, and the nails were perfectly thin, giving them a beautifully natural look. She’s efficient, yet clearly a perfectionist—which I really appreciate as a fellow perfectionist. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Jamal, and his assistant Talia, are extremely kind, utterly professional, thorough and an absolute joy with whom to spend the afternoon. Jamal is a wizard with sensitive hair, and fixed my damaged hair so that it looks and feels healthy and amazing!! It was a great blessing to find them; I only wish they were in New Jersey :-) so I shall have to go up to New York many many times in the future!!

Tash Blaque truly exceeded my expectations! Erica R. gave me the most stunning twist out and her expertise really shined through. She was warm, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain every product and technique, making sure I felt comfortable and confident in maintaining my hair. What a great experience as usual. I went in for a cut and blowdry but after arriving I decided I'd like to get highlights as well. I'm so happy with how everything turned out. My highlights are very natural and so beautiful. The color she picked compliments my skin tone and natural hair perfectly. The haircut is gorgeous. Exactly what I asked for. Love my experience with Jamal. He is excellent at hair care but equally as good at cutting and styling. Also, after several silk presses, I still have my great curl pattern and able to wear my hair natural and curly.
