Sandhána Retreat

At Sandhána our contemporary approach to contrast therapy is to begin with an ice cold water immersion (6 degrees Celsius) for 1-4 minutes.  Then having done the hard thing relax and enjoy a 40 minute infrared sauna heated to 55-60 degrees Celsius, depending on the program that you choose. We then advise ending the session with a final cold plunge for at least 2 minutes.

You will be provided with a towel to wrap yourself in. Most people prefer to go naked in the sauna to allow the skin to breath. Please note that you can see out into the garden setting through the outdoor blinds, but nobody can see you through the blinds.

Then having done the hard thing relax and enjoy a 40 minute infrared sauna heated to 55-60 degrees Celsius, depending on the program that you choose. Please ensure that you are completely dry before getting in the sauna after the cold plunge, as there are infrared panels on the ground that can't get wet.  We then advise ending the session with a final cold plunge for at least 2 minutes.

Enjoy the healing benefits of the infrared light by listening to some relaxing music, a podcast or meditation or whatever relaxes your mind. Those 40 mins are just for you and your needs. The perfect opportunity to disconnect from the outside world and find your inner calm.
