 Basti simply means to contain or hold a vessel as such and in this case it simply means to contain therapeutic oils in a vessel made of dough.

The oils are chosen to the specific therapeutic goals of the treatment such as pain management, muscle and tension release, nourishment, purification, emotional releaser and hormonal support to name a few.

What makes the basti so artful is the way in which it can be used by shifting the dough well around different parts of the body such as the heart, the stomach, the knee, the neck, even the third eye and the liver/kidney and adrenal areas. The fact that it works on so many levels makes it a powerful treatment that heals not just the body but the mind and spirit as it works on our energetic body. The overall goal here is to return prana into our organs, our chakras, our nadis and marma points. It also helps to pacify our vitiated doshas.


The Basti - Ayurvedic Dough Dam Therapy

Total stress relief package combines Abhyanga and Shirodhara (the continuous pouring of medicated oil on the forehead) in a two hours treatment that will leave you feeling completely relaxed and revitalized. The whole-body massage with herbal medicated oil removes toxins, improves circulation and increases healing hormones . Shirodhara deeply relaxes both mentally and physically and increases feel-good hormones, like serotonin and melatonin. Suitable for treating many types of physical and mental ailments from aches and pains in the body to mental strain and stress, nervous tension and anxiety

You are invited to relax on our heated table as gentle music plays in the background, sounds and frequencies specifically written to resonate and open the heart centre. While a homemade dough basin (basti) is placed to the center of the chest and filled with a warm handcrafted botanical oil infused with organic herbs and flowers that have also have a special resonance with the heart.  During this time heart frequency music will continue to play as well as a guided visualization to help guide you deep into the process. Your hands will be placed in the mudra for the heart to further activate and harmonize the centre. After the dough is removed a series of marma points across the chest will be stimulated through tapping and touch as well as a massage to the head, neck, shoulders and chest. This session will be finished with heart opening yoga nidra. The treatment time is approximately 1 hour.

A classical Ayurvedic treatment in which warm oil is poured in a continuous stream across the forehead while you lay on a massage table.
 It promotes a deep relaxation, traditionally part of the preparation for Ayurvedic Panchakarma. It is an ancient therapeutic treatment used to calm and balance the nervous system

The process saturates the head with warm oil, soothing tight scalp, neck and facial muscles, as well as the peripheral nerves around the scalp and brain, aiding in deep relaxation and quieting the mind. Brainwaves begin to slow creating a meditative state while creating our feel-good chemicals such as Gaba and Serotonin.

As well as being a powerful mind therapy, it aids in the balance of the pituitary and pineal glands aiding our bodies in balancing our hormones and endocrine system.

Overall it leaves a feeling of wellness, increased mental clarity, a deep feeling of being relaxed and rejuvenated.
