I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

I love my color! I had it done the Sunday before last for the second time by Maria-Blair Serrano and she is truly talented -- I am so happy I have found my new colorist. I am very particular and precise about what I want, I have been coloring my hair for 30+ years. Maria listens very carefully and takes the time to understand what you want the end result to be. She is thoughtful and deliberate, and it's obvious that she really enjoys her work and cares about her clients. I love the dimension and depth she brought to my highlights, and she did it all without damaging my hair, I'll be back.

Marq was fabulous as always. He's very patient, describing the chemical process of coloring hair and the possibilities. He wants his customers to maintain the health of their hair above anything else. He'll counsel you to get your hair to its very best. Today with kindness and understanding he explained why a purple hair color wouldn't necessarily be a good choice long term for my hair. Though he could have pockted a few extra bucks for the extra processing it would take to achieve the look, he made it clear my satisfaction after I left the shop and the health of my hair was more important 💜

I went into my appointment feeling blah and was *feeling myself* by the time I left. I can’t give Harix enough praise! He is SO talented and I could not be happier with my cut and color. He is equal parts artist and stylist, which is especially crucial when it comes to curly hair. He also has a wonderful vibe and I immediately felt at ease. This is by far the best hair service I’ve ever received. Harix is truly a curly hair expert and I’m so grateful to have found him! Roots Radicals is also a lovely salon. Everyone there was kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I recommend it to everyone!

Lorraine was professional, punctual, and really did her best work on my highlights. It was my first time getting any color, let alone blonde. I have been natural for 5 years and have meticulously kept my hair healthy so I was a bit nervous at first but Lorraine and her team explained the process, were gentle, and gave easy-to-follow maintenance tips. Last minute before a trip, I realized how bad of a hair color touchup I was in need of and my usual place was unavailable, so I decided to swing by the studio to see if there was any chance there for highlights. Dori was super nice and was willing to accommodate me last minute, even staying late since that was the only time I was available too, and she did an absolutely fantastic job! I’ve just had yet another fabulous curly cut by Harix. There’s a reason I travel from out of state to see him. His attention to detail—including nuancing the cut for the particular season (humid summer, dry winter)—is unprecedented, in my experience. He’s really a treasure. And Roots Radicals is a lovely, calming space.
