Wat is het verschil tussen dry needling en acupunctuur?

Acupunctuur is een oud Chinees medicijn dat al eeuwen bestaat, in tegenstelling tot dry needling dat pas de laatste jaren beschikbaar is. Zowel acupunctuur als dry needling zien dunne naalden in de huid of spier ingebracht om pijn te behandelen. Het inbrengen van naalden stimuleert de doorbloeding en het cellulaire herstel, maar droge naalden veroorzaken waarschijnlijk onwillekeurige krampen en spiertrekkingen. Dit is normaal en staat bekend als de lokale trilreactie.
