Gina was so amazing! My hair was dead and flat when I came in. She listened to what I wanted out of the haircut and recommended some solutions and did such an amazing job. I can’t recommend her and this salon enough after encountering so many bad salons in Brooklyn. So happy to have FINALLY found a salon I plan on coming back to for future haircuts.

Harix was amazing with my curly cut. He took the extra time to talk through styles - I only had a few directions and no particular style request. I'm so happy with the way he understood and cut my hair, he's very experienced and loves cutting curly hair. He also took weight off my curls to give them some bounce. Would 100% recommend for all curly cuts.

OMG, I got my haircut from Andrea and she is AMAZING. I have curly hair and havent gotten it cut since the pandemic started, PLUS I also had a baby, so it was looooong. She dry cut it and worked through my curls and did such a great job. I feel like a new person - with bouncy, well-styled, no-longer-straggly curls. THANK YOU!

I’ve been going to Kat for years! She is an excellent stylist. Recently she styled my long locs for my wedding and it was perfect. I told her how I wanted to feel and showed her my dress and she worked her magic. What I appreciate about Kat the most, aside from her hair expertise, is her vision. Kat has style. She knows what looks good. I can trust her ideas and I don’t have to always have it all figured out. I love that about her. Lastly, she also is an excellent colorist. In the early days of my locs, she would do all my wild colors (blondes, red, dark blue etc.).

Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

Crissel does the best curly hair cuts in Brooklyn. My curls love her hands.

Kim is the only person I trust with my cut and color in the whole borough of Brooklyn (and probably NYC as a whole). She not only has skills and style, but also cares deeply about hair health and maintenance and since visiting her years ago, my hair has been the healthiest it's been - and the best it's ever been colored! Thank you Kim!!

Tana is simply the best for a dry curly cut. I drive over half an hour through Brooklyn traffic just to see her because she’s that amazing.

Staff was wonderful and able to fit me in very last minute for a wash, blow dry and trim. Best shampoo I’ve had in a LONG time, and I left feeling like my hair had been well cared for. Would definitely recommend, and I plan to go back again soon’

This amazing black owned salon is an experience its self. From the cleanliness to the ambiance and the hospitality! You’re greeted and welcomed by amazing staff and high quality service. I’ve had the pleasure of booking with my hairstylist Cara, twice and Tash Blaque and every time I’m pleased and blown away with the experience I received. Cara is such a pleasant spirit and an even better hairstylist. She’s experienced and loves to make sure her client leaves content and satisfied. I booked the sew in experience and received a wash and set, blow out and styling with my ready installed weave.

Always a pleasure when going to see Kevin! He does great work, he did my hair for my wedding and I’ve been going back to see him ever since for hair color and blow outs!!

I like to book with Mariah whenever I can! I still remember the amazing trim and silk press she gave me earlier this year! She does great simple styles as well, like a wig braid down.
