What is leg waxing and how is it done?

Leg waxing is a hair removal method for the legs. Soft wax is normally used in leg waxing, and sees a thin layer of warmed wax applied to your skin using a wooden spatula or roller. A strip of cloth is placed on top of the wax and pulled back, removing your hair in the process.

What to expect during a leg waxing appointment?

You’ll need your legs to be exposed, so you’ll either need to remove or adjust your clothing so that your waxing therapist can access the areas of your legs you want waxed without risk of getting wax on your garments. When you’re ready, warmed soft wax is spread thinly onto your legs, and wax strips placed firmly on top. The strips are quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of your hair growth, taking your hair out from the root in the process. Your waxing should take between 30-45 minutes depending on whether you’re having a half or full leg wax.

How much does leg waxing cost?

This depends on where you have unwanted hair and your preference. A half leg wax (lower or upper) is quicker and lower cost. A full leg wax covers everything from ankle to upper thigh in one session. Your waxing therapist can advise what's right for you.

How to prepare for a leg waxing appointment?

Don’t shave before your appointment; in order for your leg waxing to be effective and leave you with silky smooth legs, you’ll need your leg hair to be at least a quarter of an inch long so that the wax can grip. Your skin also needs to be as oil free as possible, so take care to shower, exfoliate, and refrain from moisturising your legs before your appointment. Lastly, make sure that the skin on your legs isn’t sunburned or broken, and tell your beauty technician about any moles on your legs that may need protecting from the wax.
