Today I had my brows done with Amelia and I’m in love! 😍 I had henna brows done in the blonde shade as I have blonde hair and Amelia also waxed them to shape them too, I couldn’t be happier! They look just incredible and full, I have slightly wonky brows and lighter hairs on one eyebrow due to a scar from childhood through my left brow and now they look perfectly even! Just spent an amazing hour with Nicole, having my first experience of microdermabrasion. Henna Brows FAQs
Henna brows are created by applying henna-based pigment to the eyebrows. Unlike traditional brow tint, henna dye is plant based and should stain eyebrow hair effectively for up to 6 weeks (regular brow tint lasts between 4-6 weeks). The henna used for henna brows is different to that used for body tattoos.
The type of henna used for henna brows is generally considered safe, but if you have eczema or psoriasis, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you’re advised to steer clear of henna. You should also check if you’re allergic to the henna dye components by carrying out a patch test at least 24 hours before your henna brow appointment. You should also know that natural henna is brown or olive in colour; if you’re offered black henna avoid it. Black henna is chemically made and contains p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) which, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), can cause serious allergic reactions.
Your treatment is likely to take 20-45 mins; the results should last for up to 6 weeks.
Henna is generally considered safe, however you should always perform a patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment, to check if you are allergic to it. More research needs to be done into potential side effects, but it’s recommended that if you’re breastfeeding or pregnant, or if you have eczema or psoriasis, you should avoid using henna. If in doubt, ask your doctor.
Exfoliate, avoid exposure to the sun before your appointment, and arrive with clean skin (that means no make-up and no oils or moisturiser). Once your henna brows are complete, you should protect them from the sun (which could cause the henna to fade) and avoid touching or exfoliating your brows excessively.
