The cost varies from salon to salon, but in the Rural Florida area, you’re likely to pay between $55 and $165.
It depends on the length of your hair. Perms on short, frequently cut hair tend to last 3-4 months; perms on longer hair can last 6-8 months.
If carried out by a professional, a perm should not cause any damage to your hair.

A perm is a chemical process that alters the hair follicle. They work best on healthy hair, so try to ensure your hair is in top condition before you book your perm appointment, and avoid using heated styling tools in the days leading up to your perm.
You shouldn’t stand with your head directly under the shower for 2 days, nor should you wash your hair with shampoo for 2 to 3 days (48-72 hours) after you’ve had your perm. It’s also advisable not to use swimming pools or hot tubs for a week (7 days) after perming your hair because the chemicals in the water can affect the structure of your hair follicles. Brushing your hair and using heated styling tools are also no-nos for 48 hours after you’ve had a perm; and colouring should be avoided for 3-7 days.
