Make sure the hair on your back is at least a quarter of an inch long (0.6cm), so the wax can grip the hair effectively. Avoid sun exposure for at least a day before your treatment, and do not apply any oils or lotions to the area before the appointment. Back waxing is a hair removal treatment for the back using warm wax applied to the skin and removed quickly to pull hair from the root. It can cover the full back, upper back, or lower back, leaving skin smooth for weeks.

Back waxing can be a painful procedure, especially if you have sensitive skin. To minimize discomfort, take a pain reliever like ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment. You should also avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoking before the appointment, as these can make your skin more sensitive. Exfoliate your skin 1-2 days before the appointment to help the wax grip the hair better and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs. You can also ask your esthetician to use a numbing cream to help reduce pain.

Back waxing is possible at home, but we recommend you have a professional to avoid any mistakes or injuries. If you do decide to do it at home, use high-quality wax, apply it in small sections, and pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth. You should also follow the same preparation and aftercare practices as you would with a professional appointment.

Like any waxing treatment, back waxing can cause skin redness, sensitivity, pain, and ingrown hairs. Other possible side effects include wax burns, dermatitis, and severe skin irritation. Make sure to talk to your esthetician about any skin conditions, allergies, or concerns you have before the appointment.
