Cyst reduction is performed as part of our Advance Blemish Removal Clinic. This treatment would require a consultation and would further need doctors approval to reduce the cyst.

Sebaceous cysts are filled with a clear, oily liquid made by the sebaceous glands and are usually found on the face, neck and trunk of the body.

Epidermoid cysts usually affect young and middle-aged adults and contain keratin and pus. These can be formed after trauma or injury or from a hair follicle that has become inflamed.

Pilar cysts are subcutaneous keratin-filled cysts that originate from the outer hair root sheath. They can often be found in multiples on the scalp of middle-aged females.

While different in appearance and substance, all three cysts are treated the same way using diathermy with a few adaptations based on the position of the cyst.

Cyst Reduction

Xanthelasma are blemishes caused by deposits of cholesterol under the surface of the skin. They range in size from very small up to 1″ in diameter and are normally found on the eyelids. These blemishes can be reduced and sometimes removed via the use of Diathermy.

Xanthelasma Removal / Reduction

Warts are small, rough, viral growths on the skin. They are very common and are usually spread by direct skin-to-skin contact or indirectly through shared contact with contaminated surfaces. Warts do not usually cause any other symptoms in people with normally functioning immune systems and usually resolve without treatment, although this can take months or years.

In most cases cryotherapy or acids are the first treatment for warts. However, diathermy targets the ‘mother warts’. It is effective in 65-85% of cases and is the go-to solution for persistent warts.

Skin tags are benign, innocuous growths which vary in size, shape and attachment. They are often found in areas where there is friction, such as where the skin creases or clothes rub. Skin tags (technically known as fibro-vascular papilloma) are increasingly common as we age and affect almost half of the population. While they are benign and do not pose any direct risk to your health, skin tags can easily be removed if they are impacting on your self esteem or mental well-being

Skin Tag Removal

Seborrhoeic keratosis is a benign, asymptomatic mass, primarily caused by the ageing process. It can also be known as seborrhoeic warts, senile warts, barnacles or basal cell papilloma. Seborrhoeic Keratosis often have a thick wart-like surface and are usually colourless when they appear and become brown to black over time. Seborrhoeic keratosis can be confused with other skin conditions, so it is advisable to seek a GP’s advice before visiting to confirm your condition, however if it is clearly diagnosed by your skin specialist then we can proceed with treatment.

Generally Thread Veins will need a minimum of two sessions.

Telangiectasia, also known as red veins, thread veins and broken capillaries, are common in exposed and vulnerable areas such as the nose. These can be caused by trauma to the skin.  Treatment aims to restore the previous appearance of the skin. Following advanced diathermy treatment, you can expect to see a 60-80% improvement in the appearance of your thread veins depending on your age, health and lifestyle.

Verrucae, also known as plantar warts, can be extremely painful. They can range from a small pinhead up to a large singular or widespread mosaic coverings and often contain black dots. Verrucae can disappear spontaneously or they can last for years. Specific diathermy techniques have been developed for the treatment of verrucae. It works on the ‘deep core’ and may help to trigger a viral immune response, which causes other untreated warts to spontaneously resolve.

A milium cyst is a small, white bump that typically appears on the nose and cheeks. These cysts are often found in groups. Multiple cysts are called milia.

Milia occur when keratin becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. Keratin is a strong protein that’s typically found in skin tissues, hair, and nail cells.

Cherry Angioma are small blood spots that are benign vascular blemishes. They can vary in size from small pin dots to as large as a penny; and in colour from bright red to darker tones.  Cherry angioma are not painful, but may bleed when scratched and can become distressing, particularly if they are in difficult to mask areas. 

Large blood spots on the body, head and scalp are often known as Campbell de Morgan. While they may be distressing to live with, they are a completely harmless vascular blemish that can easily be removed with diathermy.
