While a homemade dough basin (basti) is placed to the center of the chest and filled with a warm handcrafted botanical oil infused with organic herbs and flowers that have also have a special resonance with the heart.  During this time heart frequency music will continue to play as well as a guided visualization to help guide you deep into the process. Your hands will be placed in the mudra for the heart to further activate and harmonize the centre. What makes the basti so artful is the way in which it can be used by shifting the dough well around different parts of the body such as the heart, the stomach, the knee, the neck, even the third eye and the liver/kidney and adrenal areas. The fact that it works on so many levels makes it a powerful treatment that heals not just the body but the mind and spirit as it works on our energetic body. The overall goal here is to return prana into our organs, our chakras, our nadis and marma points. It also helps to pacify our vitiated doshas.


The Basti - Ayurvedic Dough Dam Therapy

A classical Ayurvedic treatment in which warm oil is poured in a continuous stream across the forehead while you lay on a massage table.
 It promotes a deep relaxation, traditionally part of the preparation for Ayurvedic Panchakarma. It is an ancient therapeutic treatment used to calm and balance the nervous system

The process saturates the head with warm oil, soothing tight scalp, neck and facial muscles, as well as the peripheral nerves around the scalp and brain, aiding in deep relaxation and quieting the mind.
