Vad är akupressur och hur fungerar det?

Akupressur bygger på tron att i traditionell kinesisk medicin styrs vår hälsa av energiflödet (qi) genom vissa kanaler (meridianer) i vår kropp. När energin blir blockerad eller obalanserad kan vi drabbas av dålig psykisk eller fysisk hälsa. Akupressur fungerar genom att applicera tryck på specifika meridianpunkter på vår kropp, vilket gör att qi kan flöda och återställa balansen. Det finns mer än 650 meridianpunkter (även kända som akupunkter) på kroppen.

Vilka är fördelarna med akupressur?

Akupressur kan hjälpa till att lindra många tillstånd, allt från ryggsmärta, trötthet och ångest, till illamående, huvudvärk och immunbrist.

Är akupressur en säker behandling?

Ja, men om du har högt blodtryck eller är gravid rekommenderas det att du undviker akupressur.

Hur lång tid tar en akupressursession och vad kan jag förvänta mig under sessionen?

45-90 minuter. Du måste förklara för din akupressurutövare vad du vill ha behandlat och, beroende på vilka akupunkter de behöver få tillgång till, kommer du att bli ombedd att antingen sitta eller ligga ner på ett massagebord. Din utövare kommer då att börja tillämpa ett fast, men milt tryck på specifika akupunkter på din kropp, vilket lindrar dina symtom i processen, återupprättar qi-flödet och återställer kroppens balans.

Finns det några potentiella biverkningar eller risker förknippade med akupressur?

Du kan uppleva ömhet, yrsel och blåmärken efter en akupressursession. Det rekommenderas normalt att inte ha akupressur om du är gravid. Om du har ett medicinskt tillstånd, tala med din läkare innan du bokar ett akupressurbesök – de kommer att kunna ge råd om huruvida det är lämpligt för dig.
