Jill is a magician!! The New York winter and water had killed my curls, but Jill brought them back to life. So very professional and taught me about my hair and styling, while also keeping my preferences top of mind. The space is clean and modern, and the Self team were so wonderful.

I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Lorraine was professional, punctual, and really did her best work on my highlights. It was my first time getting any color, let alone blonde. I have been natural for 5 years and have meticulously kept my hair healthy so I was a bit nervous at first but Lorraine and her team explained the process, were gentle, and gave easy-to-follow maintenance tips. I love my color! I had it done the Sunday before last for the second time by Maria-Blair Serrano and she is truly talented -- I am so happy I have found my new colorist. I am very particular and precise about what I want, I have been coloring my hair for 30+ years. Maria listens very carefully and takes the time to understand what you want the end result to be. She is thoughtful and deliberate, and it's obvious that she really enjoys her work and cares about her clients. I love the dimension and depth she brought to my highlights, and she did it all without damaging my hair, I'll be back.

This was an overall wonderful experience! The salon is very clean and zen. Just a super chill feeling. The receptionist was very warm and welcoming, she took my coat and offered drinks :) The salon owner Maria did my hair and she really listened to what I wanted my long term hair goal to be. She then explained how we can make that happen and did my highlights, wash & blowout in 2hrs. It really was great because, Im always on a tight schedule. After going several shades lighter my hair still felt silky smooth. She gave me a great messy blowout and I was off. Thanks again Self !!!!

Dorela did an absolutely amazing job with my hair! I have very thick & wavy hair, so I was a little nervous at first, but Dorela was fantastic! I did the keratin treatment and got a haircut, and she was very precise and took her time with every step. Dorela also keeps her salon super clean. Kat is an excellent hairstylist. She is warm, personable and professional. Kat pays attention to her clients' needs. I travel to Brooklyn from The Bronx just to have my tresses taken care of by Kat. It's worth the trip. Any haircare needs? Kat will take care of you.
