It was my first visit and it was lovely. I love my hair, I love the staff, I love my stylist (Lauren), I love the way the products smell, I love the way everything looks inside, I love their organization and the way they handle business. If I wasn't moving next month, this would be my permanent salon, but unfortunately I'm leaving New York. :(

Ruben is the man! I hadn’t gotten a haircut in over two years, so I was a little nervous about making a big change. He took the time to look through my reference photos, asked the right questions, and made sure he understood exactly what I was going for. He absolutely nailed it. He’s great with curly textured hair and beards, and you can tell he really pays attention to the details. I walked out feeling fresh, confident, and honestly better than I expected. Already looking forward to the next cut. If you’re on the fence, book with Ruben. You won’t regret it.

I had a phenomenal experience! The stylist and salon staff were all super welcoming and good energy. The stylist ran through my hair, made sure I was comfortable and gave me intentional recommendations based on my needs. I was very nervous - especially as someone who is a hijabi and has Lupus- my hair has been a sensitive spot for me. However, on Sunday mornings they made sure to accommodate and make sure there were no men! She also was extremely knowledgeable of the medication I take for Lupus and how it can impact hair health. Overall, it was amazing and I will def be back!

It was my first time at Hayato. Although it looked a bit dated, the service was exactly what I was looking for. Great shampoo experience and Mina my hairdresser was a super Japanese stylist. She listened to what you wanted and then offered her opinion. Highly recommend for a true New York Japanese hair salon. Thank you!

It was my first time at this location. I had an amazing experience with Bertha as a specialist barber here. She was lovely and took the time to suggest a hairstyle perfectly tailored to my face shape and features. The shop is very welcoming, clean and has a very positive vibe. I came to the shop because Master Barber Jan Dogar recently joined the team and he has been cutting my hair for the last several months. His work is thorough, consistent and thoughtful. I am an older guy with not that much hair, so it is crucial to me what I do have looks as good as it can. Jan totally gets it and does an outstanding job. His expertise and kind, friendly demeanor make for a great experience overall!
