Onderzoek suggereert ook dat sauna's het risico op dementie en de ziekte van Alzheimer kunnen verlagen.

Wat moet ik doen voor een saunasessie?

Je verliest veel water door zweet als je eenmaal in een sauna bent, dus help je lichaam door in de aanloop naar je sessie geleidelijk een halve liter water te drinken – het helpt uitdroging te voorkomen. Je moet ook voor een sauna douchen en de tijd nemen om te ontspannen.

Wat moet ik doen na een saunasessie?

Drink veel water: je moet het vocht dat je door zweet bent kwijtgeraakt vervangen, dus drink na elke saunasessie minstens 500 ml-1l (2-4 glazen) water.
