In tegenstelling tot andere bikiniwaxbehandelingen is een Hollywood-wax een ontharingsmethode die harde of stripwax gebruikt om al het haar van de bikinilijn en de achterkant te verwijderen.

Is Hollywood waxen pijnlijk en hoe kan ik ongemak minimaliseren?

Ja. De huid rond je intieme gebied is bijzonder gevoelig, dus om het ongemak dat je tijdens je afspraak kunt voelen te minimaliseren, moet je 2 dagen voor je behandeling scrubben (dit helpt ervoor te zorgen dat de wax je haar grijpt, niet je huid) en je bikinilijn uit de zon houden. Het wordt ook aanbevolen om je huid te hydrateren door deze regelmatig te hydrateren (hoewel het gebruik van oliën op de dag van je waxen moet worden vermeden) en om je afspraak niet te boeken tijdens of 3-5 dagen voor je menstruatie wanneer je huid waarschijnlijk extra gevoelig is.

Wat moet ik doen om me voor te bereiden op een Hollywood-waxsessie?

Je schaamhaar moet lang genoeg zijn om de wax effectief te laten zijn, dus zorg ervoor dat het minstens 0,6 cm lang is voordat je naar je afspraak gaat. In de 3 dagen voorafgaand aan je Hollywood-wax is het raadzaam om niets te doen dat je huid kan irriteren: dat betekent niet zwemmen in gechloreerd water, waardoor je bikinilijn vrij blijft van vochtinbrengende oliën en uit de zon. Je moet ook voorkomen dat je je Hollywood-was binnen 3 dagen na je menstruatie boekt, vanwege de gevoeligheid van de huid.

Zijn er risico's of bijwerkingen verbonden aan Hollywood waxen?

Ja. De meest voorkomende bijwerkingen zijn roodheid, gevoeligheid, pijn en ingegroeide haren. Andere gemelde, maar zeldzame, bijwerkingen zijn waxbrandwonden, dermatitis en ernstige huidirritatie.

Hoe vaak moet ik een Hollywood wax krijgen en wat is het onderhoud dat nodig is?

De haarvrije effecten van een Hollywood bikini wax moeten 2 weken aanhouden. Wat het onderhoud betreft, wil je je huid glad en vrij van stoten en puistjes houden, en om dat te doen, moet je hem weghouden van alles wat hem kan irriteren of infecteren. Dat betekent dat je je pas gewaxte huid 24-48 uur na je behandeling niet mag aanraken, uit stilstaand water mag blijven (baden en zwembaden; douches zijn prima), je pas gewaxte huid niet mag aanraken en hitte en zweet (dus geen volledige lichaamsbeweging, geen sauna's en geen zonnebanken) gedurende 24 uur na je wax moet vermijden.
