Wat doet dry needling eigenlijk?

Dry needling omvat het inbrengen van fijne naalden in de huid en het spierweefsel om spier- en triggerpointpijn te verminderen.

Wat zijn de risico's van dry needling?

Bijwerkingen komen niet vaak voor, maar kunnen bloedingen of blauwe plekken op de naaldinbrengpunten omvatten. U kunt ook 24-48 uur na uw behandeling duizeligheid, slaperigheid, misselijkheid en een toename van pijn ervaren. Wat is het verschil tussen dry needling en acupunctuur?

Acupunctuur is een oud Chinees medicijn dat al eeuwen bestaat, in tegenstelling tot dry needling dat pas de laatste jaren beschikbaar is. Zowel acupunctuur als dry needling zien dunne naalden in de huid of spier ingebracht om pijn te behandelen. Dry needling wordt echter alleen gebruikt om spierpijn te behandelen, terwijl acupunctuur een reeks fysieke en psychologische aandoeningen behandelt en blokkades in de energiestroom (qi) van het lichaam opruimt om de algehele gezondheid te verbeteren.

Wat gebeurt er met je lichaam na dry needling?

Het inbrengen van naalden stimuleert de doorbloeding en het cellulaire herstel, maar droge naalden veroorzaken waarschijnlijk onwillekeurige krampen en spiertrekkingen. Dit is normaal en staat bekend als de lokale trilreactie.
