Wat is acupunctuur?

Acupunctuur is een vorm van Chinese geneeskunde die fijne naalden gebruikt om een reeks fysieke en mentale aandoeningen te behandelen. Hoe effectief is acupunctuur?

Veel mensen vinden acupunctuur effectief bij de behandeling van klachten die zo divers zijn als pijn, rimpels en psychische problemen. Formeel bewijs over de effectiviteit ervan is echter niet duidelijk.

Wat zijn de bijwerkingen van acupunctuur?

Bijwerkingen zijn zeldzaam, maar kunnen pijn, bloeding of blauwe plekken waar de naalden de huid hebben doorboord, duizeligheid, slaperigheid en misselijkheid omvatten.

Hoe vaak moet ik acupunctuur ondergaan?

De frequentie van de behandelingen is afhankelijk van de klacht(en) die u behandelt, dus u moet uw behandelaar om specifiek advies vragen. Sommige mensen hebben acupunctuur eenmaal per maand om hun algehele gezondheid te behouden.

Hoe bereid ik me voor op een acupunctuursessie?

Probeer een lijst van al je huidige medicijnen, supplementen en kwalen mee te nemen naar je sessie om de behandelaar te helpen informeren over je algehele gezondheid voordat ze je behandelen. Het is raadzaam om koffie (een stimulerend middel) te vermijden en minstens 2 uur voor je afspraak te eten, omdat dit het effect van acupunctuur op je lichaam kan verminderen.
