Acupunctuur is een vorm van Chinese geneeskunde die fijne naalden gebruikt om een reeks fysieke en mentale aandoeningen te behandelen. Volgens beoefenaars reist energie (qi) door onderling verbonden paden (meridianen) in het lichaam en veroorzaakt het gezondheidsproblemen wanneer ze geblokkeerd raken; blokkades worden opgeheven door acupunctuurnaalden op specifieke punten in de huid in te brengen, de energiestroom te herstellen en de gezondheid te verbeteren.
