What's the difference between a hair treatment and a hair mask?

A professional hair treatment uses high-performance, salon-grade formulas that penetrate the hair structure more deeply than a standard mask. They may also involve heat processing or bonding chemistry that at-home masks don't replicate.

What should I expect during a hair treatment appointment?

What your hair stylist does during a treatment will be dictated by the treatment you choose. Your treatment may be carried out on washed, unwashed, wet, or dry hair. Ask your stylist before you book your appointment what’s involved in the process and how long it’s likely to take. Applying a detox treatment takes a matter of minutes, hair toning can take between 5-20 minutes, hot oil and moisturising treatments take around 20 minutes, glossing is likely to take between 30 and 40 minutes, and you’ll need to allow 1-2 hours if you’re having your hair relaxed, and 1-3 hours if you’re booked in for a keratin treatment.

Is a hair transplant permanent?

Yes. But that doesn’t necessarily mean your post-healed hair transplant will look the same forever.

How much does a professional hair treatment cost?

How often should hair treatments be done?

It largely depends on the treatment. You can have keratin treatments up to 3 times a year, relaxing treatments 3-4 times a year, and hair toning once every 6-8 weeks. You can enjoy scalp treatments every 2-4 weeks, detox and hot oil treatments once every 1-2 weeks, and moisturising treatments once a week or more.

What are the benefits of hair treatments?

Some benefits are aesthetic only, but if your hair is dull, dry or damaged it could benefit from a detox or hot oil treatment. Scalp, detox, and moisturising treatments can help improve your hair’s health.

How does the hair transplant procedure work?

You’ll be awake during the procedure, but you’ll probably be sedated and given a local anaesthetic to ensure you don’t feel any pain. You’ll then either have a follicular unit transplant (FUT) or a follicular unit extraction (FUE).

During FUT, your doctor will remove a thin strip of skin with hair on it from the back of your head, cut it into hair grafts (pieces of skin containing 1-4 hairs), and insert it into incisions where you want your hair to grow. The area the skin was stripped from will be stitched to promote healing, but you’re likely to be left with a thin scar. If you opt for FUE, the back of your head will be shaved, grafts of single hairs will be removed and placed into incisions in your scalp.
