Gel, on the other hand, needs to cure under a UV lamp and should be removed professionally in a salon to help preserve nail health.

Soak a cotton wool pad in an over-the-counter nail polish remover, alcohol, or hand sanitizer, then place the pad on your nail for 10 seconds before rubbing it gently back and forth to remove the polish.
Depending on the quality of the polish you use, regular nail polish should last for around a week. It will then start to chip.
