It’s also recommended that you hydrate your skin by moisturising it regularly (although avoid using oils on the day of your waxing), and avoid booking your appointment during or 3-5 days before your period when your skin is likely to be extra sensitive.

Your pubic hair needs to be long enough for the wax to be effective, so make sure it’s at least one quarter of an inch (0.6cm) long before you attend your appointment. In terms of maintenance, you’ll want to keep your skin smooth, and bump and breakout free, and to do that you’ll need to keep it away from anything that could irritate or infect it. That means no touching your newly waxed skin, staying out of standing water (baths and pools; showers are fine) for 24-48 hours after your treatment, no touching your newly waxed skin, and avoiding heat and sweat (so no full-on exercise, no saunas, and no tanning beds) for 24 hours after your wax.
