How does the hair transplant procedure work?

You’ll be awake during the procedure, but you’ll probably be sedated and given a local anaesthetic to ensure you don’t feel any pain. You’ll then either have a follicular unit transplant (FUT) or a follicular unit extraction (FUE).

During FUT, your doctor will remove a thin strip of skin with hair on it from the back of your head, cut it into hair grafts (pieces of skin containing 1-4 hairs), and insert it into incisions where you want your hair to grow.
