Best Dry Needling near me in Ancy, Rural Rhône

Dry needling is commonly used for neck and shoulder pain, lower back pain, headaches, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, and muscle tightness. It is particularly effective for treating myofascial trigger points that cause localised or referred pain.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine which has been around for centuries, unlike dry needling which has only been available in recent years. Both acupuncture and dry needling see thin needles inserted into the skin or muscle to treat pain. However, dry needling is only used to treat muscular pain, whereas acupuncture treats a range of physical and psychological conditions, and clears blockages in the body’s energy flow (qi) to improve overall health.

Side effects aren’t common, but could include bleeding or bruising at the needle insertion points. You may also experience dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, and an increase in pain for 24-48 hours after your treatment. If you’re concerned, ask your therapist to talk you through the risks and side effects before your appointment.

You may feel a local twitch response when the needle hits a trigger point: a brief, sharp sensation followed by muscle relaxation. Most people experience some muscle soreness for 24–48 hours after treatment, similar to post-exercise soreness.

Evidence isn’t conclusive, but dry needling is believed to be effective in reducing mild to moderate muscle pain.

The insertion of needles stimulates blood flow and cellular repair, however dry needling is likely to cause your muscle to cramp and twitch involuntarily. This is normal, and known as the local twitch response.

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by physiotherapists and other qualified practitioners where fine needles are inserted into trigger points (tight muscle knots) to release tension, reduce pain, and restore normal muscle function. Unlike acupuncture, it is based on Western anatomy rather than TCM principles.
