For years I’ve struggled to find a barber who can understand what I want to do with my very unruly but beloved hair, and someone who I can talk through cuts and styles with at ease, but with Cal you can explain it and he will understand and double check with you and 99.9% of the time it is bang on the other 0.1% of the time it’ll be pretty damn close to bang on, he knows how to do all cuts and beard trims to perfect, the bloke is an artist with clippers, he’s not happy until you’re 100%, best barber I’ve ever had and the value for money is also second to none, great cuts and great crack!

I came from Belford in Northumberland for my haircut off cal. Perfect trim. Probably the best trim I've had. I must say all the boys in the shop are nice as well. Great experience. Will definitely be back. Good work cal and the boys.

Always a great atmosphere when getting a trim get to have some great Craic and one of the best places to go around Newcastle hands down

I’ve been living in Newcastle for 2 years and this so by far the best cut I’ve had. Phil is an experienced barber having ran the popular shop in town for the last 7/8 years and now opening this new shop in Heaton. Much easier for myself as there is free parking along Chillingham road too. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of cut and tailoring the cut specifically for my head shape and face. If you’re looking for something specific and tailored to you, something not generic, then I’d recommend going to Mr Tilly’s in Heaton.

I’ve been going to the Hoi since the first store opened in Newcastle. The service is always excellent and my first cut in the new Ouseburn store was no different. Great craic and a great cut from Sam. Business as usual from the barbers with a difference, up the Hoi!

Can’t recommend Mr Tillys enough, been visiting the central Newcastle shop for a good few years. New place is in a great location with handy parking! Looks and smells just as good as the original, Phil always takes time to understand what I want and the results are always first class. This man knows how to cut hair and run a successful business! Good luck with the new shop mate!
