Unlike regular sharp needles, a cannula needle is longer and has a blunt, rounded end. Prior to treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied, meaning that any discomfort will be minimal. The lips are then filled using one entry point which is outside of the lip’s border. This allows the practitioner to fill the lips from this one entry point and avoid multiple injection sites, unlike traditional lip filler methods.

As the Cannula needle has a blunt, rounded tip, this means that it is unable to pierce arteries and is less likely to pierce blood vessels than regular needles. This is due to the fact that it pushes past veins and blood vessels in the skin’s layer as the filler is injected.
