The Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. The hands are cleansed with soap and water or hand sanitizer. Lotion or penetrating oil is then applied to the hands & massage into the skin. The hands are submerged into the heated wax. Usually the hands are coated with 3 to 5 layers of wax. Hands are then covered in plastic & warm mittens. The paraffin remains on the skin for up to 10 minutes & then is removed.
