Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity or those suffering from muscular dysfunction and pain from their lifestyle. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and ensheathes the other soft tissues). Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

45 minutes is suitable for more than one area such as a shoulder and neck. For multiple large areas or a chronic issue consider booking 60 mins to get a comprehensive treatment. If you are unsure please ask.

Cold stones are applied to certain areas to reduce swelling and improve blood flow by drawing heat from your skin. Warm stones are applied to your skin to soften your muscles. The massage movements adapt to each individual's trigger points. Cold or heat may be used more than the other for best results when necessary.

Hot and cold stone massage 

The massage therapist places the hot stones on specific points on your body and may also hold the stones while giving the massage. The localized heat and weight of the stones warm and relax muscles, allowing the massage therapist to apply deeper pressure to those areas without causing discomfort.

Lymphatic drainage whole body 

Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle treatment used to relieve painful swelling in your arms and legs caused by lymphedema. Lymphedema often affects people recovering from breast cancer surgery.

Lymphedema happens when your tissues retain fluid left behind after your cardiovascular system sends blood to your tissues and organs.

The remaining fluid is called lymph. Normally, your lymphatic system collects your lymph and returns it to your heart via a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. When something disrupts your lymphatic system’s process, lymph collects in your arms and legs, making them swell.

A massage therapist uses lymphatic drainage massage techniques to move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes, which eases the swelling in your tissues.

45 minutes is suitable for either upper or lower body.

To support your massage treatments it's important to have a training programme that both reflects your indivual goals but supports your bodies needs.

A personalised programme will be written that helps you strengthen muscle Imbalances that may be causing you pain and stretch and strengthen areas that are tight.
