A trichoscope is used to determine your scalp health and hair density. You will see your scalp magnified ×50 or ×200 on a screen. I will talk you through what I am assessing so you can understand how to care for your scalp and hair. I will assess your hairs strength, elasticity and porosity. You will receive product advice and a treatment plan for your hair and scalp based on your individual needs and goals. Please bring a sample of tap water from home for hard water testing.

Red light therapy is used for the following issues; scalp inflammation, scalp sores, scalp aging and hair loss or thinning. It treats these issues by increasing blood flow, healing skin and tissue, promoting collagen production and reducing scalp inflammation. The increase in circulation and the cell division caused by red light is the powerful combination that promotes hair growth and reactivates dormant hair follicles. Red light will also tighten the hair follicles to prevent hair fall.

Blue light therapy is used to treat the following scalp issues; excessively oily scalp, dandruff, sebhorric dermatitis, bacterial and fungal folliculitis and scalp acne. It reduces excessive sebum production by calming the sebaceous glands and will kill the fungal and bacterial infections that cause the scalp conditions mentioned.

Blue light therapy is also used for hair care treatments. It will intensify the absorption of all treatments by locking the active into the hair fibre. It does this by sealing the cuticle (the other layer of the hair). It will also strengthen weak hair, increase the production of amino acids and improve hair elasticity.

Here are some examples of when you may wish to add on both red and blue light therapy;

Example 1: You have sebhorric dermatitis: red light will reduce inflammation and promote healing, blue light will calm sebaceous glands and will have an antifungal and antibacterial effect on the scalp.

Example 2: You have damaged hair and hair loss: You book in for a KPAK treatment. Red light will promote hair growth, boost circulation and tighten the hair follicles to prevent any further loss. Blue light will be used after your treatment to close the cuticle and prolong and strengthen the effects of your hair treatment.

Hair Loss Treatments

Frequency: Ideally every 3 months 

A scalp facial for normal scalp types is a treatment designed to improve scalp health, boost circulation and to create optimal conditions for healthy hair growth and scalp comfort. 
This treatment includes; scalp exfoliation, hair detoxification, scalp and hair masks, gua sha combing and massage. The scalp exfoliating process will unclog hair follicles by removing dead skin cells, product build up, oils, dirt and pollution. The hair detoxification process with remove product build up, oils, dirt, pollution, hard water minerals and chlorine. This will leave your scalp and hair completely clean and ready for treatment. A suitable scalp mask and hair treatment will be chosen based on your individual needs to restore your scalp and hair to ideal hydration levels. Treatment is finished with a scalp serum and blowdry.

Scalp Facial - Normal Scalp

Scalp facial for scalp conditions is a treatment designed to offer relief for those with irritated scalps. An irritated scalp can be caused by the following issues; dry scalp, oily/dandruff scalp, sebhorric dermatitis, eczema, folliculitis, acne, hormonal fluctuations, environmental factors and poor scalp cleansing capabilities due to immature age, knowledge, excessive hair density or mobility. 
Each treatment is customised to suit the clients individual needs. The following steps will be followed although this may vary slightly to suit; scalp exfoliation (currently 4 options available), scalp cleansing and scalp conditioner/mask/treatment. Your treatment will be finished with a topical lotion, serum or moisturizer to relieve symptoms further. Your scalp will feel light, fresh and calm after your treatment. Blow-drying is included.

Scalp Facial - Scalp Conditions 

Frequency: As often as required 

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition and unfortunately there is no cure. This scalp facial treatment will empower you to understand the plaque removal process so you can manage the external symptoms of psoriasis better at home. The treatment will not slow down or prevent the plaques from returning as this process is coming from within. While you are receiving the treatment I will talk you through each step. The psoriasis scalp facial is cosmetic but also relieves the external irritation and itchiness often associated with this condition. The treatment involves the 3 key steps in psoriasis management; softening, lifting and hydrating. Blow-drying is included.

Scalp Facial - Psoriasis 

Frequency: As often as required 

This treatment is for children 3-12 years. Children experience scalp issues such as eczema, dry scalp and cradle cap (sebhorric dermatitis). This can cause discomfort, sores, secondary infections or advanced symptoms if left untreated. I have a wide variety of treatments available suitable for immature and sensitive skin. Blow-drying is included.
