Bij reflexologie wordt gedacht dat specifieke delen van de voet overeenkomen met verschillende organen en systemen in het lichaam, dus beoefenaars oefenen druk uit op bepaalde delen van de voeten om een reeks interne gezondheidsklachten te behandelen, waaronder misselijkheid, sinusitis en cardiovasculaire problemen. Wat moet je niet doen na een voetmassage?

Het wordt aangeraden om 2-3 uur voor of na een massage niet te douchen. Een massage verhoogt de bloedcirculatie, net als heet water – de combinatie van de twee kan ervoor zorgen dat je je duizelig of flauw voelt. Je moet ook gedurende 12-24 uur na een massage cafeïne, alcohol en inspannende activiteiten vermijden om eventuele aanhoudende pijn te verlichten.
