Zowel draadsnijden als pincet zijn vrij van chemicaliën en werken door zich op enkele haren te richten, maar harsen en epileren kunnen meerdere haren in één keer verwijderen. Inrijgen, harsen, pincet en epileren verwijderen al het haar vanaf de wortel, maar het zal binnen 2-4 weken weer groeien. Laserontharing is de enige permanente ontharingsmethode.
