Wat is henna en hoe wordt het gebruikt voor tatoeages?

Henna is een plantaardige kleurstof die is afgeleid van het pigment in de bladeren van de henna-boom. Om het pigment te benutten, worden de bladeren gedroogd, tot een fijn poeder gemalen en met olie of water gemengd om een pasta te maken. Het is deze pasta die vervolgens op de huid wordt aangebracht om een henna-tatoeage te maken.

Hoe lang gaat henna mee?

Henna-kleurstof heeft de neiging om 2 weken mee te gaan voordat het begint te vervagen. Hoe langer je je nieuw aangebrachte henna echter voor het wassen op je huid laat zitten, hoe meer tijd het moet worden opgenomen en hoe langer het duurt.

Wat zijn de ontwerpopties voor henna-tatoeages?

Henna tatoeages zijn vaak een combinatie van repetitieve ontwerpen. Sommige zijn gewoon decoratief, sommige zijn spiritueel en symbolisch. Ze kunnen variëren van paisley- en lotusbloemen tot wijnstokken en slangen.

Zijn er risico's verbonden aan henna tatoeages?

Natuurlijke henna is bruin of olijfkleurig en is over het algemeen veilig in gebruik, maar we raden altijd aan om eerst een patchtest te doen om te zien hoe je huid erop reageert. Wees voorzichtig: zwarte henna (ook bekend als PPD) is een chemische versie van henna; het is in sommige landen verboden voor gebruik op de huid, omdat het de huid kan verbranden en beschadigen.

Kan ik thuis mijn eigen henna pasta maken?

Ja. Er zijn recepten voor het maken van je eigen henna-pasta, maar om risico's en fouten te voorkomen, raden we je aan een henna-kit te kopen bij een gerenommeerde winkelier of je henna-tatoeage te laten doen door een professionele henna-tatoeëerder.
