Haarextensies zijn strengen van echt of synthetisch haar die aan de wortel van je eigen haar zijn bevestigd om je vollere, langer uitziende lokken te geven.

Hoe lang gaan haarextensies mee?

De levensduur van hair extensions is afhankelijk van het type waar je voor gaat. Tape-in hair extensions gaan tussen de 4-8 weken mee; clip-ins kunnen 6-12 maanden meegaan, afhankelijk van hoe goed je ze verzorgt; weeft (sew-in extensions) gaan 6-8 weken mee; en zowel bond extensions als microlinks kunnen tot 12 weken meegaan. Wat zijn de vijf soorten hair extensions?

Er zijn vijf hoofdtypen echte of synthetische haarextensies:

Clip-in – eenvoudige, tijdelijke optie die je eenvoudig op je eigen haar kunt klemmen.
Tape – haarlokken die op de wortels van je natuurlijke haar zijn geplakt of gelijmd.
Bindingen – dunne strengen die aan je natuurlijke haar worden gelijmd met behulp van verhitte keratine.
Weaves/Sew-in – haarlokken die zijn genaaid of gevlochten aan cornrows gemaakt met je eigen haar.
Microlink – dunne strengen haar die door een siliconen kraal worden getrokken en op je natuurlijke haar worden geklemd.

Hoe kan ik mijn hair extensions het beste verzorgen?

Je moet voor echte haarextensies zorgen, net zoals je voor je natuurlijke haar zou doen: borstel, was en conditioneer ze zonder het bij de wortel te overdrijven, wat de hechting zou kunnen losmaken. Synthetische extensions kunnen in koud water met een kleine hoeveelheid milde shampoo worden gewassen voordat je een leave-in conditioner aanbrengt. Het is ook raadzaam om eenmaal per maand een afspraak met je stylist te maken om ervoor te zorgen dat je haarextensies goed worden onderhouden.
